One to one nutritional therapy

"I would wholeheartedly recommend Helen. She has transformed our lives. She is very thorough and helpful and is extremely caring. I cannot thank her enough for everything she has done for us. Amazing"

Changing habits and behaviours can take time.

Our brains are hardwired to follow the path of least resistance. It is far easier for our brains to repeat a previous pattern of behaviour than to chose a new path, “neurons that fire together, wire together”. This is how habits form. It can take anything from one month right up to a year for a new behaviour to become a habit, for the new neural pathways to wire themselves together. This is called neural plasticity and it is how our brains and behaviours can change over time.

Nutritional Therapy is most effective when we work together over a period of time. We begin with an initial health assessment. Following this assessment we choose the best way forward for you.

Initial Health Assessment

This is an opportunity for you to tell your story. I will ask you a lot of questions in order to help me understand what may be contributing to your current health picture. Together, we establish your goals and come up with an appropriate, (simple and achievable), action plan.

I may recommend testing, either through your GP or through a private lab. The results of these tests feed into our follow up sessions, helping us to create a more individualised nutritional and lifestyle programme for you.

Follow up sessions

It is by working together that we find simple and achievable solutions to help you achieve your goals. It is impossible to do everything at once, we aim for progress not perfection. Working together helps you stay motivated. We monitor symptoms at every meeting in order to measure our progress and figure out the best next step for you.

Appointments are normally spaced two to four weeks apart, depending on preference. Some people may only need one or two follow up sessions, others may require a much longer programme of support.

For eating disorders we work together weekly, normally for a minimum of ten weeks. Weekly sessions attract a 15% discount off the prices listed below.

Initial health assessment

75 – 90 minutes £110

I’m interested – what happens next?

I have limited clinic hours through early 2021 and am only taking on new clients who need support with disordered eating

Please call or drop me an email. We can either get you booked straight in or we can arrange a time for a phone call to discuss your symptoms and health goals in more detail.

Once we confirm your booking I will email you my intake forms. This includes a detailed health questionnaire and food diary which need returning to me prior to our first meeting. This information enables me to conduct any initial research required, and means you get better value out of the time we spend together.

Functional Testing

Functional tests provide information on how well the body is working. Sometimes this can help provide a more targeted nutritional and lifestyle intervention. Some tests are available through your GP, others only privately. Private testing incurs additional costs, but all tests are optional. The following provide examples of the type of private tests I may recommend, depending on your health goals and presenting symptoms:

Stool analysis. Tests for microbial diversity, parasites, digestive function, inflammation etc. £349

Urinary Organic Acids. Tests for energy metabolism, functional vitamin and mineral status, neurotransmitter function, microbial imbalance, oxidative stress. From £200.

Cortisol Response. Tests the bodies perceived stress threat. From £85. Advanced adrenal DUTCH test from £195.

Nutritional Profile (urine), ONE. Tests functional nutritional status (vitamin, mineral, amino acid), cellular energy production, neurotransmitter function, microbial imbalance, oxidative stress. £335.

DUTCH Hormone health (dried urine). Tests sex and adrenal hormone levels, neurotransmitter function and oxidative stress. From £290

IgE / IgG (blood). Tests for food allergies and food sensitivities. From £125

Histamine intolerance. From £50

Blood tests – Various including lipid profile, full thyroid panel, liver function, pre-diabetes risk, cardiovascular risk, inflammation, vitamin D, iron status etc.

The above prices provide an indication of cost and are subject to change. Complex tests may incur an additional interpretation fee but this will always be discussed in advance.

Please note that Nutritional Therapy is a complementary medicine and is not a replacement for medical care. I believe in working closely with the medical profession in order to achieve the best possible health outcomes for my clients.
